Once, on a plane ride to or from or who knows where, I watched this fascinating documentary following three teenagers with a high talent and potential for the sport of table tennis and was really amazed by the commitment (or sometimes lack of it) these kids had and how far it took them in their endeavour.
I can barely play table tennis, so it's not like you need to have any interest whatsoever to enjoy this film. It follows Ariel Hsing, Lily Zhang and Michael Landers as they practice and compete to make it to the Summer 2012 Olympics.
Without giving away too much, you see the level of commitment vary between the three teenagers. Some are consumed by the sport and willingly dedicate their entire life to it. Others fight to have the balance of also maintaining a normal life.
It's a film high on adrenaline, and is incredibly intriguing to see such young gifted kids dedicated to their sport.
